Hi, I am Lakan Ubaya Nagsalad (he/hIM/SIYA)
I am an artist and healer. You may also know me as “Jamee” or “JP”.
Medicine can be a lot of different things. Starting to receive care from a community acupuncture clinic for the first time in 2009 brought me back from severe burnout as much as leaving a toxic nonprofit job and a bad relationship. Gender affirming surgery was a balm to my soul as much as finally getting to study my ancestral medicine in the Philippines.
Healing work is a reality-bending magic. Whether it is a constant neck pain that is no longer there, lifelong debilitating PMS that disappears in a few months, speedy surgery recoveries, an ancestral connection that seemed impossible, the list goes on. The work is not always easy and it is not always fast, but none of us have to go through it alone. Are you curious about what is possible for you?
My Approach
Values
My trials and tribulations as a late-diagnosed AuDHD, queer, trans, Tagalog person brought me to the traditional medicines of my ancestors. As a hilot binabaylan and Chinese medicine practitioner I assist people in finding balance in the ecosystem within themselves as well as the larger external ecosystem they reside in. I see the body as a garden to be cultivated, not a warzone against death and disease. Every person’s situation is unique and I tailor my treatments to meet people where they are at.
Bodily autonomy and informed consent
Trauma-informed
Size-inclusive
anti-racist, decolonial
LGBTQIA+ centered
I do my best to offer as many accessibility accommodations as are within my capacity as a disabled, solo practitioner. If you have questions please contact me.
Please note that my names have evolved over time. Reviewers may refer to me as “JP”, “Jamee”, or “Lakan”.
