Hilot

I was trained at the Hilot Academy of Binabaylan by Apu Adman Aghama and Lakay Alsent Aghama. Hilot is a full system of traditional medicine from the islands now known as the Philippines. Some of the modalities included in this system are ancestor veneration, body work (hilot masahe, dagdagay, pagsasala), herbalism, divination (tawas, kilubansa), prayer and oration (orasyon), medicinal bathing (banyos), cupping (bentusa) and so much more. One of the most important facets for me is the deep emphasis on relational work, living harmoniously with the environment and our human and non-human neighbors.

I am absolutely thrilled to offer this ancestral medicine to my community.

Traditional Chinese medicine

I came to acupuncture in 2009 when I was dealing with extreme burnout that was affecting multiple systems of my body. This was lifechanging and eventually led to a big career shift out of nonprofit work. I wanted to share what I had experienced with other queer and trans people of the global majority.

I went back to school and earned my Masters degree in Acupuncture and East Asian Medicine at Seattle Institute of East Asian Medicine in 2015. The modalities I offer include acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, qi gong, lifestyle medicine (yang sheng), bodywork (tuina), and cupping.

I have had the privilege of working with folks that come from a wide range of backgrounds, but I continue to center QTBPIGM in my work.
