Frequently asked questions

What is it that you do?

I practice Asian traditional medicine mostly from the Philippines and China. There are a number of modalities that I use including divination, qi gong, acupuncture, tuina, and herbal medicine. My approach is rooted in ancestral medicine and re-indigenizing which inherently includes taking into account the holistic context of a person's life: spiritual, physical, emotional, social, environmental, and material.

What conditions do you treat?

I treat a wide range of conditions and specialize in providing gender affirming care. Some of the common conditions include depression, anxiety, digestive concerns, acute and chronic pain, surgery support, irregular menstrual cycles, hormonal imbalances, dermatological conditions, etc. You are welcome to setup a 20 minute consultation to discuss what options are available to you.

Accessibility for Threshold

What are your COVID-19 policies?

Everyone must wear a mask for all in-person sessions regardless of whether or not you are “sick”. An air purifier will be running in the treatment space.

Do you take insurance?

No.  I can provide an insurance receipt to submit to your insurance company (AKA super bill) for acupuncture visits, but it is the client's responsibility to work with their insurance company on out-of-network benefits.

What if I have to cancel an appointment?

I have limited clinic hours and there may be a waiting list. Therefore, I require 48 hours for cancellations.  This allows me some time to fill gaps in my schedule.  Appointments canceled with less than 48 hours notice and appointments missed with no notification will be charged $50 for that appointment. Cancellations due to illness or emergency will be given a credit and rescheduled at a later date.

I do not identify as queer/trans/POC, can I still come see you?

Absolutely, but please respect that the healing spaces I offer center the needs of QTBIPGM.

Wait, I have more questions!
